How to Work With Browser Extensions Without Draining Your Margins

Watch: Tye DeGrange, CEO and Founder of Round Barn Labs, on working with browser extensions

Watch it on YouTube →

A shopper reaches checkout. In the background, a browser extension spots the cart, fires a click nobody made, and drops its cookie a split second before the order goes through. The sale looks like a normal last-touch conversion, and you pay the commission.

The obvious fix is to ban extensions, but that would also cut off Partners who send real discovery. Tye DeGrange is CEO of Round Barn Labs and a member of the PMA Measurement Council, and he’s scaled partner programs for brands like Google Workspace, Grammarly and Atlassian. In his new masterclass video, he shows how to tell legitimate Partners apart from opportunistic extensions.

From the masterclass:

  • Spot the 2-second spike: measure click-to-conversion time against your normal buying cycle
  • Restructure extension commissions: stand-down rules, tiered payouts and holdout tests
  • Find what’s hiding in sub-networks: missing or stripped referral URLs, and why server-to-server tracking closes the gap

If this transaction usually takes a month and it took 30 seconds, let’s look at that.

Find the Conversions That Landed Too Fast

The AI Playbook recipe: copy, paste in AI, ship the answer. The prompt asks, how do I get alerted when conversions come in too quickly after a click? Written by Dasha Shareyko, Product Education Manager. Works with Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini.

Tye’s speed check is one you can automate. Everflow® records when each click and conversion happens, so this recipe pulls your latest conversions, finds the ones that landed within seconds of the click, and groups them by Partner.

The automation can also post the results to Slack, so you know which Partner to look at. A fast conversion isn’t always fraud. It can be a coupon site grabbing last-touch credit or a shopper who checked a review site right before buying, so the recipe lists the Partners and timings for you to review.

All of those conversions came within eight seconds from click. I set up a parameter in Everflow. If a click to conversion occurs sooner than three minutes, they’re not paid out on.
