Fix the Data Before the Funnel: LeadCapture.io's Case for Verifying Every Lead Before It Moves

If your program pays on leads, you are paying for every one of them, including the fake phone numbers, the forms a bot filled in, and the leads that looked fine at submission and never picked up the phone. The buyer downstream finds out which ones were real, and prices them accordingly.
That is getting more expensive to ignore. Cost per lead is climbing across platforms, and the people generating leads or sending the traffic are finding it harder to make the numbers work. One answer is to get more value out of each lead you already have, and that starts with knowing what each lead actually is.
John Porrini has watched this from the form itself. He started LeadCapture.io in 2019 because he was generating leads online and couldn't find a tool that did what he needed. There were landing page builders and there was Typeform, and nothing built for the way lead generation actually scales. He hand-coded the first forms for his own campaigns, then local businesses found it, then lead generators and affiliates. The platform has been rebuilt about four times on their feedback, and it now serves performance lead generators who buy media or work with partners and route leads out to buyers and clients. Asked where those programs lose the most value, his answer was immediate.
The Value Leaks Before the Lead Ever Moves
Porrini doesn't start with the funnel's design or the traffic mix. He starts with the data.
A phone number on a form is more than a contact field. Verify it, and it opens up everything that comes with it. For lead generators working local property investing, real estate or mortgage, he says a property address returns "like 70 different data points." Pass that through to partners, buyers and clients, and the lead is worth more to every one of them. You can charge more for it, and your partners are happier with what they receive.
There's so much value loss just in not collecting that data and not being focused on lead quality.
John Porrini · Founder & CEO, LeadCapture.io
A lot of programs skip this step. They capture the lead, count it and send it on, and the value that verification would have added never shows up anywhere.
Why a Clean-Looking Form Isn't Proof Anymore
Verification matters more now, because what fills in the form has changed.
Bots are completing forms. And now they're looking human.
John Porrini · Founder & CEO, LeadCapture.io
LeadCapture.io keeps blacklists for the sign-ups that try to get onto its own platform, so the problem isn't theoretical for him. When a bot can produce a submission that passes a glance, the way to tell is checking what's underneath it, starting with whether the phone number is real.
For an advertiser, this changes what a lead count means. A rising number of submissions is no longer good news until you know how many would survive verification.
Stop Counting Conversions
The lead generators Porrini sees winning have one thing in common. They stopped measuring themselves on volume.
Don't focus on conversions. Focus on qualified leads.
John Porrini · Founder & CEO, LeadCapture.io
Qualified leads sell for more, and the programs focused on them can charge their clients more.
Traffic source matters just as much. Porrini describes a form he was reviewing that converted at about 21%, while the same vertical on a different traffic source was converting at around 5%. That gap is the case for choosing partners carefully. In his words, some partners send great traffic and some don't.
Agree on What a Good Lead Looks Like
If quality is the goal, everyone in the chain needs to be measuring the same thing. Porrini's answer is a shared benchmark: a clear, agreed definition of what a qualified lead includes.
What goes into the benchmark
Proof of consent
Does the lead carry a TrustedForm certificate?
Proof of a person
Is there a session recording?
Proof of contact
Has the phone number been verified?
The benchmark only works if it travels. Porrini's point is that these data points should pass back through to the partners sending the traffic and on to the buyers receiving the leads. The more people are on the same page about what a good lead is, the better it works for everyone in the chain.
Let AI Build the Page, Not the Strategy
Porrini now calls drag-and-drop page builders "first generation" tools. The people moving fastest build their funnels, forms and pages with Claude, on top of a specialized lead capture platform, and get a page live in 30 to 45 minutes.
Where he sees them go wrong is handing over the wrong half of the job. Copywriting, strategy and the tactical decisions a good publisher cares about are exactly where AI isn't good enough yet.
Their job should just be to help you go faster. Like, that's what matters now.
John Porrini · Founder & CEO, LeadCapture.io
He's also seeing teams create Claude skills that go through their funnels and pull the data for them, while they're away from the computer. The people using it best, he says, know what they're using it for: speed, with the copy and strategy still their own.
When Tracking Disappears From the Support Queue
Data quality only pays off if the lead gets attributed to the partner who sent it. Before LeadCapture.io built its Everflow integration, Porrini says that setup was a headache: customers asking how to get their transaction ID working, tickets going back and forth, documentation sent over and over again.
Hidden fields helped, but they're unreliable. They fall off, and browser privacy settings break them. When the transaction ID isn't stored, he says, "people don't get paid out," and the program's trust problem starts right there.
LeadCapture.io's first version of the integration used the tracking link approach. After meeting with Everflow's team, it switched to direct linking. Rebuilding took about a month. Setup is now one click, "might be two," he says.
Since doing that we've had no questions about it at all.
John Porrini · Founder & CEO, LeadCapture.io
One lead generator using the integration runs traffic from Meta and from partners, across several campaigns and verticals, with a complex setup: Google Tag Manager, plus a specific way of capturing the transaction ID for its Lead Prosper integration. It came up in the original sales conversation. Since the integration launched, Porrini says he doesn't hear from them about it, because it just works.
Three Moves to Make This Month
Three moves to make this month
Verify the phone number on every lead.
It's the change Porrini would make first, and it brings in the data that makes a lead worth more.
Write down your benchmark.
Decide what a qualified lead must carry, whether that's a consent certificate, a session recording or a verified phone, and share it with partners and buyers.
Compare conversion rates by traffic source.
In his example, a 21% versus 5% gap sat inside a single vertical. Find out which partners sit on which side of it.
The Margin Is in the Lead You Already Have
Costs per lead aren't coming down. Porrini knows a paid search marketer whose cost per lead went up about fivefold. His read on the next year is that the programs that survive will be the ones that stop competing on price and start competing on quality, transparency and trust. He saw the shift begin around 2023, and it's catching on now.
That brings it back to where it started. The lead your program paid for this morning holds more value than the invoice shows: the data behind the phone number, a clear answer on whether a person filled in the form, and a record your partners and buyers can trust. Collecting that value is what lets a program charge more for its leads and keep its partners and buyers happy.
When Porrini was asked what one thing a performance marketer should fix in their funnel this month, he didn't hesitate. Verify the lead, pull in the data, and send it through to everyone who needs it. There are a million things to fix, he said, but that's the biggest one.
